Genealogy research has recently become a national phenomenon. It seems everyone is looking for information on their ancestors and traveling great distances to research their family trees. If your ancestors are from Southeastern Illinois here are several places to begin your research. Clay County Genealogical Society

PO Box 94, 114 S. Church Street , Louisville

Hours: Winter (Dec, Jan, Feb, Mar)- Saturday 9:00 - 4:00 and the second Monday of the month, 12:00 noon to 7:00 pm. Other months - Every Monday from 12:00-4

Clay County Historical Society Museum

105 S. Main St., Louisville

Hours: Open by appointment.

Located on the east side of the square in Louisville, the Clay County Museum occupies the former Clay County Jail and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
